A Christmas Coco and the pitfalls of internet shopping.

I had such plans for all of the things I would make this Christmas but I ended up being super busy at work and wearing myself out! I had planned to make my daughter a Christmas outfit but it just wasn't to be.

In Girl Charlee's recent sale I had bought a couple of meters of ponte to make another Coco. I have bought from Girl Charlee before and always been very happy with my purchases. I usually stick to cotton Jersey and after receiving this I realized why - it is horrible, shiny, non natural stuff and I nearly threw it in the bin!

I finished making my Christmas gifts yesterday and still had a little energy for something nice and simple so thought I would make a Christmas coco - I am really pleased with my pattern matching even if the material is horrid!! Hopefully I will survive one day wearing it - I always feel Christmas calls for something nice and loose so that there is room for some Christmas pudding.......

Have you been caught out by internet purchases before? Did you make a Christmas dress/outfit too?

Well I hope everyone is ready for tomorrow wherever or however you are spending the holidays I hope you have fun!

Wishing all of my readers a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2016!

Su xx

  1. I like the print and colours of your fabric - a cheerful dress for Christmas! I do not buy fabric online as I like to feel the quality/texture of the fabric before I buy.

    1. very wise not buying on line! Unfortunately I don't have any good fabric stores near me so I have to buy online or save it all up for when I am visiting somewhere that has a good store (not often enough!!)

  2. I buy a lot of my fabric online and yes, I have had pitfalls with that. A big issue is colour not being what the same as what I have seen on my monitor!

The dress looks nice, even if the material is horrid. It is festive and may be just the thing for Christmas.

Have a lovely Christmas, Su! Hope you can enjoy some nice time off work for a bit!

  3. Pretty dress, hope you enjoyed wearing it for Christmas. I tend to steer away from anything synthetic, the trouble is all the best prints seem to have a bit of poly in them! Merry Christmas enjoy the rest. Louise x

    1. Thanks! I wore it all day yesterday and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be but it's never going to be my favourite! I usually stick to natural fibres too - lesson learnt!

  5. I really like the pattern - such a shame the fabric itself isn't what you expected. I never got round to making my Christmas dress so well done you!
